Kratie Province Sees Growth in Employment and Economic Development

As of September 2025, Kratie province boasts a total of 243 factories and enterprises, generating nearly 19,400 jobs for local residents. This significant achievement was highlighted during a meeting between HE Heng Sotha, Deputy Governor of Kratie, and the Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia.

During the meeting, HE Heng Sotha emphasized the diverse economic landscape of Kratie. The province is home to 24 cultural and historical sites, along with vibrant eco-tourism communities that showcase its rich natural heritage. In addition to tourism, the provincial economy is bolstered by 162 companies in the trade and industry-handicraft sector, as well as a dedicated dry port to facilitate trade.

Moreover, Kratie features a special economic zone aimed at promoting investment and economic activity. The workforce is predominantly local, with 19,391 individuals employed across various sectors, including 1,042 foreign workers contributing their skills.

Covering an extensive area of 11,094 square kilometers, Kratie is organized into 7 cities, 48 districts, and 327 communes, complemented by 2 border gates enhancing transportation capabilities. The agriculture-agro-industrial sector is also thriving, housing 48 investment companies along with 24,000 cattle farms. In the mining and energy sector, 72 companies are operational, including a notable gold mining project backed by a Chinese investor. Furthermore, the management and distribution of electricity are progressing well, with coverage extending to 297 villages, achieving a supply rate of 90.83%.

The meeting concluded with the Indonesian Embassy reaffirming its commitment to foster cooperation with Kratie province, focusing on enhancing trade links and expanding export-import activities between the two nations to elevate their economic partnership.

This collaborative approach is expected to not only strengthen local economies but also create more job opportunities and improve the overall quality of life in Kratie province.
