Mega Project Along Tonle Sap River Nearing Construction

On 17 November, 2018, Ms Mey, part of the sales team of Yuetai Group, which now owns the Phnom Penh Harbour site, said the company will begin construction in 2019, following its success in selling out its shop house and condominium projects.

According to Ms Mey, the company has made a lot of sales for its first building. Of the 230 stores sold, only two stores remain while most buyers are Cambodian. The company is now putting its condominium project on sale.

The success of this project is due to the development of the entire Yuetai Phnom Penh Harbour development which features many benefits for customers, such as location, as well as permanent property ownership among others.

Regarding the construction, Ms Mey said that the shop house project construction will last for about two and half years while condominium project will last for four years. The entire development project, which has about 18 buildings, will take about seven years to build, she added.

Meanwhile, Ms Mey added that the development of the Yuetai Phnom Penh Harbor or The City Gate will require land filling into the river as well as the extension of the road. In July, the government granted a 50-yearlease on the land for the company (read more ).

“We will fill 30 metres of land on the river, like Koh Pich…. and we will also expand the road. Actually, right now we have only one way to enter and one way to leave, but soon we will expand the current road to two ways” she said.

As she explained, the land filling and road expansion is needed to make the 120-hectare development plan possible as there will be a 3-5 metre wide pedestrian walkway from the river and a 10-metre wide road in between the shop houses and Preah Sisowath Quay road which will be expanded to four lanes for sustaining traffic in this mega tourist area.
