Construction of US$ 231m Hydropower Project Set for Completion in 2026

Construction of the Stung Pursat hydropower project is scheduled to be completed by 2026, while ongoing construction is accelerating the process, according to the inspection by Minister of Mines and Energy HE Suy Sem on 19 November.

The 80-megawatt Stung Pursat 1 hydropower plant is located in Bramoy commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province. The project is set to be launched in 2026.

Stung Pursat 1 hydropower project was built to ensure local energy security and reduce imports of power sources from abroad.

The project was invested by South Korean company SPHP (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. under a budget of over US$231 million. The project was approved in 2019.
