MPWT Raise Awareness on Sewage System to People in Siem Reap

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has announced a book to raise public awareness on the sewer system, treatment system and wastewater service at the sub-national level, with the participation of 60 participants in Siem Reap at a workshop on 17 June 2022 in cooperation with UN-Habitat.

This dissemination workshop aimed to raise awareness about the importance and the need of a sewage system to participate in the maintenance of sewers and wastewater in the management of sustainable wastewater treatment systems.

General Director of the Department of Wastewater Treatment System, HE Suon Phearith, said that the problem of wastewater caused by various activities which have flowed into the residential areas and communities affects the health of people, aesthetics, biodiversity, ecosystems, and the national economy.

“The Royal Government has been working on and dealing with this issue by constructing a rainwater drainage system, sewage treatment, a wastewater treatment plant, and landfill in capital and cities, including Siem Reap city in Siem Reap province,” HE Suon Phearith added.
