National Road 23 Fully Completed, Boosting Connectivity and Regional Growth

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has officially announced the full completion of the National Road 23 (NR23) upgrade, marking a significant achievement in Cambodia’s ongoing infrastructure development. The announcement was made on October 24, 2025, following the completion of a 19.8-kilometer section designed to improve transportation efficiency and accessibility for local residents.

The newly upgraded road extends from the Koh Thom Trei East Bridge in Chroy Takeo Commune to National Road 14 in Peam Raing Commune. With a widened 11-meter surface, the improved roadway enhances traffic flow and safety. It passes through four communes—Chroy Takeo, Kampong Kong, and Loek Dek in Koh Thom District, as well as Peam Raing in Loek Dek District, Kandal Province—serving as a vital link that supports trade, mobility, and economic growth in the region.

The project included several key upgrades, such as the installation of AC asphalt pavement for greater durability, functional sidewalks, improved drainage systems, and climate-resilient road designs to withstand environmental challenges. To ensure lasting quality, the ministry has also pledged to provide three years of maintenance following completion.

The full rehabilitation of National Road 23 underscores the Royal Government of Cambodia’s strong commitment to strengthening national infrastructure, boosting connectivity, and driving sustainable development across the country.
