Kampong Speu Province Prepares for Launch of State-of-the-Art Cement Factory with 2-Million-Ton Annual Capacity

The industrial landscape of Kampong Speu province in Cambodia is set to witness a remarkable addition as a new cement factory prepares to commence operations. With a staggering annual capacity of 2 million tons, this state-of-the-art facility is poised to meet the growing domestic demand for cement, providing essential support to the country’s construction sector.

During a recent meeting with garment workers in Kampong Speu province on June 17, Prime Minister Hun Sen highlighted the province’s diversified industrial profile, boasting not only garment factories but also sugar and ethanol plants, as well as a vehicle assembly plant.

Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his excitement, stating, “Soon Kampong Speu will have a heavy industry, a cement factory with a capacity of more than 2 million tons per year, which will make Kampong Speu a province to supply cement for construction throughout the country”

The increasing demand for cement in residential and infrastructure projects underscores the significance of this new facility in meeting the nation’s construction needs.

The cement factory, with a remarkable investment of approximately US$263 million, is backed by Conch KT Cement, a prominent Chinese company that is already investing in a cement factory in Battambang province. Located in Kampong Speu’s Oral district, this project holds great promise for the province’s economic growth and development.

Presently, Cambodia boasts five operating cement factories, collectively capable of producing approximately 9 million tons of cement per year. These existing factories include Kampot Cement, Cambodia Cement Chakrey Ting, Chip Mong Insee, Battambang Conch Cement, and Thai Bun Rong.

As the new cement factory in Kampong Speu province nears its launch, the construction and infrastructure sectors in Cambodia can anticipate a boost in the availability of high-quality cement, enabling the realization of diverse development projects across the country.
