New Techo Sen Institute Reservoir in Takeo Province Surpasses Sixty Percent Completion Milestone

Strategic water management project in Tram Kak district moves closer to operational status to secure irrigation for local farming families and enhance agricultural yields

The landscape of agriculture in Takeo province is undergoing a vital modernization as the Techo Sen Institute Reservoir project reaches 60% completion. This development marks a significant step forward in Cambodia’s national strategy to improve water security and support rural communities. During an official site inspection on January 11, 2026, technical experts confirmed that the construction is progressing steadily toward its final phase, promising a more resilient future for regional farmers.

Located in the Trapeang Kranhung commune of Tram Kak district, the project focuses on two primary structural components designed to manage water flow efficiently. The center of the development is a 130 meter long reservoir dam supported by two auxiliary civil engineering structures. Since breaking ground on October 6, 2025, the project has been under the careful supervision of the Department of Engineering from the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology.

The impact of this infrastructure extends beyond simple water storage. Once fully operational, the reservoir is expected to provide supplementary irrigation to approximately 150 hectares of farmland. This increased capacity is specifically targeted to benefit roughly 116 farming families in the Trapeang Kranhung village area, allowing them to cultivate crops more reliably throughout the year regardless of seasonal rainfall variations. By stabilizing the water supply, the project aims to increase the annual harvest frequency and overall food security for the district.

This reservoir is part of a broader wave of development in Takeo province, which is increasingly becoming a hub for specialized training and infrastructure. From the recent groundbreaking of the nearby Techo Sen Polytechnic Institute for military and technical training to provincial plans for improving tourism around Takeo Lake, the region is seeing a concentrated effort to modernize its public works. For the residents of Tram Kak, the completion of the Techo Sen Institute Reservoir will serve as a physical legacy of progress, ensuring that the essential resource of water is preserved and utilized for the common good.
