NR2 & 22 Construction Poor Quality; MPTW Orders Urgent Fix & Sets Deadline for August

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has found that some parts of the construction of NR2 and NR22 are poor in quality and lack technical standards while instructing the restricting construction companies to fix them immediately and finish the whole project by August 2022.

According to the site inspection of MPWT Minister HE Sun Chanthol, as of April 25, the construction has achieved 76.20%, far slower than scheduled with many delays.

“The construction of this road was slow because the construction company did not have enough machinery and manpower, not due to the pandemic, as claimed by the company,” said HE Sun Chanthol.

“After testing, we also found some parts are of poor quality. Thus, we told the construction firm to fix it and set an overall completion deadline for August. In August, the roads must be completed with contracted quality, or otherwise, the ministry will not accept it,” he added.

NR2 has a total length of 62.56 km from Takhmao roundabout to Daun Keo roundabout in Takeo province and NR22 has a total length of 9.61 km from Daun Keo roundabout to Ang Ta Som, NR3. (Read more)

Construction is being done by Hasan Engineering & Constructions Co., Ltd and technical inspection by Dasan Constructions Co., Ltd, Dong II Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd and Seoyoung Engineering Co., Ltd Join Venture.
