Construction of NR2 & NR22 Delayed Further

The contracted firm building NR2 and NR22 has asked for another four-month project completion delay, citing a lack of construction machinery.

HE Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, said on 9 February that the ministry is evaluating the request.

“The construction company has asked for a delay of about 4 months. We have not yet approved. A proper technical evaluation and the reasons why the construction works of NR 2 and 22 are slower than planned are needed,” said HE Chanthol.

According to the plan, the construction of NR2 will be completed in April 2022, but to date, it has been just 47.95% completed.

NR2 has a total length of 62.56 km from Takhmao roundabout to Daun Keo roundabout in Takeo province and NR22 has a total length of 9.61 km from Daun Keo roundabout to Ang Ta Som, NR3.

With ground broken in early 2020, both projects are being built under a US$56 million budget, which is jointly financed by the South Korean government and Cambodian government budget. (Read more)
