National Road 5 Upgrades in Pursat Province Reach Almost 90% Completion

The construction of National Road 5 upgrades in Pursat province is nearly finished, with 90 percent of the project completed as of early March 2023. H.E. Khoy Rida, governor of Pursat province, announced this progress during a press conference on “Success of Pursat in 5 Years” on March 7.

The construction project involves reconstructing and improving a stretch of National Road 5 running across Pursat province, from the Pursat-Kompong Chhnang borderline at Krokor district to the Pursat-Battambang borderline at Bakan district.

The total length of the stretch is 86.30 km, and it has been reconstructed and improved with asphalt concrete (AC) under a loan budget from the Japanese government, according to H.E. Rida.

The National Road No. 5 Improvement Project, a project under the US$500 million concessional loan from the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency in Cambodia, is divided into three major sections: north, south, and central road sections, with a total of 366 km.
