World Bank to Grant US$50m for Development Projects in Cambodia

Senior Cambodian government officials have confirmed that the World Bank plans to grant US$50 million to Cambodia for development projects of which US$20 million is for a water and drainage system project in Siem Reap Province.

Mr Ken Rotha, Deputy Director of the Department of Public Works said that he is positive that World Bank will grant the loan and that they are now studying the proposed project. However, Mr Ken was unable to confirm the specific timeframe for the provision of the grant.

According to the Minister of Economy and Finance, H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, the World Bank has so far provided US$1,734.43 million in loans for Cambodia, of which US$1,148.93 million is concessional loans and $585.50 million is grant aid. Read more
