Over 113km of Flood-damaged Roads Nationwide Fixed

The government has thus far repaired over 112km of roads nationwide, after over 3,000km of infrastructure were damaged by floods in recent months.

Ministry of Rural Development spokesman HE Chan Daron revealed this information during a press conference on 24 November.

“So far, we have made emergency repairs to reconnect 111.55 kilometres of roads nationwide,” he said.

The latest assessment on 17 November revealed that the number of roads affected by the flood is 659 or equal to 5,329 km, of which 3,122 km were damaged.

The same report shows that nine provinces were severely affected, including Battambang, Pursat, Banteay Meanchey, Kampong Speu, Siem Reap, Pailin, Kandal, Kampong Chhnang, and Oddar Meanchey, with a total damage of 1710.50 km. Among the damage, Battambang province had 58.55 km, Pursat province (134 km) and Banteay Meanchey (121 km).

According to the previous reports, the affected capitals and provinces also include Phnom Penh, Pailin, Svay Rieng, Oddar Meanchey, Siem Reap, Takeo, Kampong Speu, Mondulkiri, Sihanoukville, Koh Kong, Preah Vihear, Stung Treng, Kampong Cham, Kandal, Kampong Chhnang, and Kampong Thom. (Read more)

At the same press conference, HE Chan Daron also revealed that an estimated US$91 million is needed to repair whole damage. However, as of today, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has approved only US$15 million for three prioritised provinces. (Read more)
