Manhattan SEZ to Expand Operations in Svay Rieng Province

In a significant move aimed at bolstering economic development in Cambodia, Manhattan Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has announced plans for further expansion in Bavet City, Svay Rieng Province, in collaboration with Singapore’s SJ Group.

The announcement came following a high-level meeting between HE Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and first Vice President of CDC, Mr. Clement Yang, Director General of Manhattan Special Economic Zone, and Mr. Hong Kian Lim, CEO of SJ Group, on April 9, 2024.

During the meeting, Mr. Clement Yang outlined the company’s strategic vision for expanding its business footprint in Cambodia. Leveraging the expertise of SJ Group, renowned for its successful development of SEZ and cities worldwide, such as Suzhou Industrial Park in Jiangsu, China, Manhattan Special Economic Zone aims to spearhead transformative initiatives across multiple sectors.

In addition to its core focus on developing SEZs, the company plans to diversify its investments into key sectors including agriculture, green energy, transportation, and logistics. This strategic diversification aligns with Cambodia’s broader economic agenda and underscores the company’s commitment to driving sustainable growth and development in the region.

Welcoming the expansion plans, HE Sun Chanthol expressed full support for the coordination of investment projects in Cambodia. Emphasizing the importance of adherence to local laws and regulations, HE Sun Chanthol reiterated the government’s commitment to facilitating a conducive environment for investment and ensuring the success of investors’ projects.

As Manhattan Special Economic Zone embarks on this ambitious expansion journey, its collaboration with SJ Group signifies a significant milestone in Cambodia’s economic landscape. By fostering strategic partnerships and leveraging international expertise, the company aims to play a pivotal role in driving economic prosperity and fostering sustainable development in Svay Rieng Province and beyond.
