Fifteen South Korean Enterprises Seek Strategic Production Bases in Cambodia

Cambodia’s growing reputation as a favorable investment destination in Southeast Asia has received another major boost as a high-level business delegation from South Korea visited Phnom Penh to explore manufacturing and market expansion opportunities. Led by Kim Chang Yong, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia, and coordinated jointly by the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia and WorldBridge Group, the delegation met with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet. The strategic gathering focused on assessing local market dynamics and identifying concrete avenues for expanding industrial bases within the Kingdom.

The visiting delegation represented 15 major companies spanning core economic sectors, including automotive assembly, electronics manufacturing, textiles, distribution and food processing, finance and banking, construction, as well as entertainment and cultural industries. The primary objective of the mission was to solidify the deepening Cambodia-South Korea strategic partnership while creating direct channels for trade and capital investments. By evaluating Cambodia’s business climate firsthand, the Korean firms seek to establish long-term operations that contribute to regional supply chain integration.

Among the 15 represented enterprises, seven already maintain active commercial operations inside Cambodia. Significantly, six other participating companies currently maintain production facilities in Vietnam and are actively evaluating plans to expand or relocate their manufacturing capacity to Cambodia. This potential relocation highlights Cambodia’s increasing regional competitiveness, backed by continuous governmental reforms aimed at modernizing transport infrastructure, streamlining administrative procedures, and providing robust investment incentives.

Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet warmly welcomed the Korean business leaders and praised KOCHAM and WorldBridge Group for facilitating the economic exchange. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to maintaining a secure, transparent, and pro-business investment climate. He encouraged Korean corporate executives to work closely with relevant ministries and public institutions to capitalize on emerging opportunities across high-potential sectors, ensuring that incoming investments translate into sustainable growth, technological transfer, and local employment.
