Cambodia is taking steps to evaluate the development of its domestic salt industry following a high-level inter-ministerial meeting held on May 27, 2026. The session focused on reviewing a private sector proposal to establish a brand-new salt production factory and analyzing the broader economic potential of the nation’s salt sector.

The discussions were organized by the Committee for Encouraging and Promoting Salt Production, under the leadership of His Excellency Hean Sahip, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The primary goal of the gathering was to assess the project’s overall concept, local manufacturing capacity, refined processing techniques, and domestic market utilization. Additionally, officials explored strategic pathways to encourage active private sector involvement to foster sustainable growth in the industry.

During the meeting, participants provided valuable feedback and technical inputs to assist the company in its development phase.
