Pursat Provincial Authorities Inaugurate New Bridge and Kick Off Construction of Nine Rural Roads

In a significant boost to local infrastructure, the Royal Government of Cambodia officially inaugurated a new 75-meter concrete bridge and announced the construction of nine additional rural roads in Pursat Province. The ceremony presided over by His Excellency Chhay Rithsen, Minister of Rural Development, marked a milestone for the community.

The newly inaugurated bridge, connecting Spean Village in Kandieng Commune and Prey Kdei Village in Anlong Vil Commune, represents a crucial investment in the region’s infrastructure. The bridge, which costs USD 900,000, is expected to directly benefit approximately 2,780 families, serving around 10,879 individuals.

At the ceremony, His Excellency Chhay Rithsen congratulated residents of Pursat Province, specifically those in Pursat City, Kandieng District, Bakan District, and Veal Veng District, for their accomplishments. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to enhancing rural infrastructure and transportation, echoing the slogan, “Where there is a road, there is hope.”

In addition to the bridge, the groundbreaking for the nine new roads, which will span a total of 67 kilometers, was also celebrated. Three of these roads, covering about 24 kilometers, are part of the Cambodia and Southeast Asia Disaster Management Project Phase 2 (CSADRMP2). The remaining six roads, totaling approximately 43 kilometers, fall under the Sustainable Rural Infrastructure Support for Farmers’ Markets and Agricultural Commercialization (SAAMBAT) project.

The total investment for the new road construction is projected to be around 14 million baht. Once completed, the new roads are expected to serve approximately 46,500 families, benefiting nearly 200,000 individuals across the province.

This initiative underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance rural connectivity and promote sustainable development throughout Cambodia, thereby laying the groundwork for economic growth and community resilience.
