Svay Rieng Province Celebrates New Infrastructure Development

Svay Rieng Province is making significant strides in rural infrastructure development, having successfully constructed 771 rural roads that span nearly 3,000 kilometers. Local authorities are dedicated to further enhancing infrastructure to stimulate economic growth in the region.

This commitment was underscored during the recent groundbreaking ceremony for a new 60-meter-long concrete bridge over the Prek Ta Saang River, held in Saang Village, Kampong Chamlong Commune, Svay Chrum District. The ceremony took place on October 8, 2025, and was presided over by His Excellency Chhay Rithsen, Minister of Human Resource Development.

During the event, His Excellency Rithsen praised past achievements across various sectors, highlighting the importance of rural infrastructure. He noted that across Cambodia, there are now over 50,000 kilometers of rural roads and more than 4,000 bridges in place. In Svay Rieng specifically, the province boasts a total of 771 rural roads, comprising 406 kilometers of concrete and asphalt roads, 2,365 kilometers of gravel roads, and 77 bridges, along with numerous other rural structures.

The newly announced bridge will directly benefit the residents of Kampong Chamlong Commune, serving 2,293 families, which includes approximately 9,266 individuals, among whom are 4,903 women.

The construction of this bridge is being undertaken by Heng Sambath Ahron Niharon Transport and Construction Company. The project has a contract duration of 12 months and is anticipated to be completed by 2026. The Ministry of Rural Development is optimistic that the bridge will yield significant economic and social benefits, particularly in agriculture, agro-industry, and public services.

As Svay Rieng continues to prioritize infrastructure development, local officials remain committed to advancing the province’s growth and improving the quality of life for its residents.
