Bassac River Bridge Project Surpasses Milestone, Completes 10.50% Ahead of Schedule

The construction of the bridge across the Bassac River, connecting Chak Angre Krom and Prek Pra, has achieved a completion rate of 10.50%, surpassing the planned progress by 1.03%. This update was confirmed by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on their official Facebook page on 28 May 2024.

The completed work includes the erection of 24 pillars and 100% concrete work, with ongoing efforts to install additional pillars and complete other critical tasks. The bridge spans a total length of 1,650 metres, with the bridge itself measuring 845.70 metres and the connecting road stretching 804.30 metres, both with a width of 27 metres.

Constructed by Shanghai Construction Company and supervised by Guangzhou Wan An, the project is funded through a concessional loan of US$60.2 million from the Chinese government, supplemented by contributions from the Royal Government of Cambodia to address demining, unexploded ordnance, and other tax-related impacts.

This significant infrastructure project highlights the collaborative efforts between Cambodia and China to enhance connectivity and support regional development. (Read more)
