Gov’t Plans Putting More Ferries from Koh Norea to Chroy Changvar to Facilitate Traffic

The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration has announced plans to ease traffic congestion caused by the construction of the Monivong flyover.

The Department of Public Works and Transport has been assigned to study the installation of additional ferries from Koh Norea to Koh Pich, providing an alternative travel route to the Chroy Changvar area.

This measure is aimed at reducing the traffic load in the Monivong area, which has been heavily congested due to the ongoing construction work.

Construction companies have also been instructed to minimise the use of construction site fences to allow smoother traffic flow. Furthermore, the authorities have prohibited the use of sidewalks for commercial purposes.

As an additional measure, the public can use the Google Maps app to check traffic congestion at the Monivong flyover construction site and find alternative routes.

The Monivong flyover project, costing over US$36 million, is set to take 36 months to complete. With the addition of more ferries and other traffic management measures, the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration hopes to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the overall traffic flow in the city.
