UNDP, MPWT to Install Five EV Charging Stations Across Cambodia

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and UNDP are studying the possibility of setting up five electric vehicles (EV) charging stations across the country, including Battambang and Siem Reap.

HE Chhuon Vorn, Director-General of Land Transport of MPWT, on 15-17 December led the team to inspect the potential locations before proceeding to a further stage.

These five EV charging stations are assistance from UNPD in response to the request from MPWT to boost the usage of EVs in Cambodia, said HE Chhuon Vorn.

The establishment charging station will provide more convenience to current EV users in Cambodia and also encourage people to use more EVs in the future.

Minister of Public Works and Transport HE Sun Chanthol said that promoting the usage of EVS has become one of the government’s prioritised policies to reduce carbon emissions.

Besides building stations, MPWT also plans to establish service centres and battery disposal sites. More importantly, MPWT will train more human resources for this sector as well.
