EnerCam Received the Permit for Oil and Gas Exploration in Cambodia

EnerCam Resources Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of ANGKOR RESOURCES CORP (ARC), has received formal approval to proceed with its oil and gas exploration project in Block VIII, located onshore in southwestern Cambodia. The permit, issued on March 9, 2025, marks a significant milestone in Cambodia’s energy sector.

With this approval, EnerCam is set to begin exploration activities to confirm the presence of commercial oil resources. An environmental impact assessment will be a priority to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

“We are committed to demonstrating a commercial oil resource that will pave the way for Cambodia’s onshore oil and gas production. This step has the potential to transform the country by providing a national energy source,” stated Ms. Delayne Weeks, CEO of ANGKOR RESOURCES CORP.

Notably, this project represents Cambodia’s first-ever onshore oil exploration effort. The production-sharing agreement with the Royal Government of Cambodia outlines a 12.5% royalty on all oil sales and a 30% corporate profit tax.

EnerCam finalized a 30-year production-sharing contract with the Cambodian government in late 2022. The agreement reduced the license area from 7,300 square kilometers to 3,729 square kilometers to conserve designated parkland. Development at the Block VIII site requires written government approval for specific areas.

Exploration will be undertaken outside of park areas, which is part of EnerCam’s ESG mandate so the Company can protect Cardamon Mountains National Park and Preah Monivong and Kirirom National Parks. (Read more)
