Future of Construction Symposium Spotlights Digital Innovation in Infrastructure

The recent Future of Construction symposium at ETH Zurich, sponsored by Bentley Systems, highlighted how cutting-edge digital tools are fundamentally transforming the design and construction landscape.

The event brought together industry leaders and academics to explore the integration of robotics and artificial intelligence in building complex, modern infrastructure.

Bentley Systems played a central role in the symposium, showcasing its leadership in engineering and digital twin software. A primary focus for Bentley is the creation of efficient, lossless data transmission across the lifecycle of a project.

By championing open-source standards and APIs, the company aims to bridge the gap between design, engineering, and operations. This connectivity is essential for enabling AI agents to access comprehensive project data, which allows for early conflict resolution, automated documentation, and improved productivity.

In May, the Future of Construction symposium took place at ETH Zurich, the storied Swiss science and technology university.

Beyond data management, Bentley is fostering the next generation of industry innovation through its newly announced NXT Activate accelerator. This $3 million program provides investment and mentorship to startups developing AI, digital twin, and robotic solutions.

By empowering architects and engineers with these advanced technologies, Bentley envisions a future where complex, high-quality structures can be built more efficiently, ultimately allowing for more ambitious and aesthetically detailed urban landscapes.

“What if the silo, or gap, is not the issue, but the lack of APIs that would enable information to have lossless transmission?” Demchak told his ETH audience.
