GDLT, CDIA to set up electric bus system in Siem Reap

The General Department of Land Transport (GDLT) has partnered with Cities Development Initiative For Asia (CDIA) to implement a comprehensive study project on the feasibility of setting up a public transport system for electric buses in Siem Reap.

​According to the discussion on “Electric bus fleets as public service in Siem Reap city” on 9 December 9, the project aims at creating a smarter public transport system and reducing low CO2 emissions in Siem Reap.

The Global Green Development Institute (GGGI) in Cambodia has also expressed interest in establishing an electric bus project in Siem Reap, while the institute is studying the feasibility of the project with provincial leaders and officials. (Read more)

Meanwhile, BYD Auto Industry, a major importer of Chinese electric vehicles to Cambodia, has also announced plans to install 200 electric vehicle charging stations in various locations across Cambodia by 2023. (Read more)

This large investment is to contribute to expanding the use of electric vehicles based on the vision towards the use of new energy and Green Plan 2022 to 2023.
