PM: No charge for electricity connection fee in Run Ta Ek & Peak Snaeng Development Zone

Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen has ordered Electricité du Cambodge (EDC) to not charge the electricity initial connection fee to the people living in the Run Ta Ek and Peak Snaeng developments to help ease the expense of moving to a new place.

Speaking at the third meeting with local people on 21 October, PM Hun Sen said that EDC has already built the electricity infrastructure at a cost of US$6 million. However, the government will not charge that from the locals when requesting a new connection.

The free initial connection fee is regardless of the volume requested ranging from 5 amperes and 100 amperes.

However, PM Hun Sen clarified that the free part is only the initial connection fee, but the electricity fee is not free.

The EDC will have an office in this area to facilitate service for people.
