Gov’t to transform Koh Kong into Cambodia’s largest SEZ cluster

The Cambodian government plans to transform Koh Kong into the largest special economic zone (SEZ) cluster in Cambodia in the near future, according to PM Samdech Hun in the opening speech at the NR48 renovation groundbreaking ceremony on 3 January.

“In order to boost the national economy, the government has a clear plan to make Koh Kong an important special economic zone, or a province with the most SEZs in the country,” PM Hun Sen said.

“Previously, our coastal economic corridor was only in Sihanoukville, but now Cambodia has a larger coastal economic corridor stretching through the entire southwest region of the country, thanks to the development of Koh Kong province. This will boost trade and economic activities especially with Thailand,” he added.

PM Hun Sen also Samdech also embrace the benefits of infrastructure to the economy, for instance, NR48 and NR10. Upon completion, the two routes will connect Sihanoukville, Pursat, Battambang and to the Thai border.
