Q1 2025 Sees Total Investment Capital from China to Cambodia Reach 56.23%

In the first quarter of 2025, Chinese investment in Cambodia has reached a remarkable 56.23% of total registered capital, amounting to USD 2.5 billion across 172 ambitious projects. This impressive influx includes six expansions of existing production facilities, which are anticipated to create nearly 120,000 jobs nationwide, significantly contributing to the country’s economic growth.

Among these projects, 99 are strategically positioned outside special economic zones, while 73 thrive within, demonstrating a balanced and sustainable growth pattern. This marks an impressive increase of 66 projects compared to the previous year, reflecting a robust growth rate of approximately 14%.

March alone saw a surge in activity, with 60 projects registered, attracting about USD 1.4 billion in capital and promising to generate around 50,000 jobs.

In addition to Chinese investments, other capital contributions come from various sources: 34.40% from domestic investors, 2.91% from Singapore, 2.40% from the British Virgin Islands, and small but notable investments from other nations.

The industrial sector has emerged as a focal point, receiving around USD 2.2 billion, while the remaining funds have been allocated to crucial infrastructure development.

Key investment hotspots include Kampong Speu (43 projects), Svay Rieng (34 projects), Koh Kong (22 projects), and Phnom Penh (21 projects), showcasing the diverse and dynamic landscape of Cambodia’s investment potential.
