Industry Ministry Orders Suspension of Water Supply for Illegal Constructions

The Ministry of Industry and Handicrafts issued a directive letter on 01 August informing its lower authorities to suspend the water supply for any kind of construction site found to be illegal, a move that aims to ensure the life, property, and safety of the people.

The direction is for all departments of the Ministry of Industry and Handicrafts, water supply authorities, and private water supply operators who are under the authority of the ministry.

The letter noted that the authorities will need to cooperate with local administrations of the Ministry of Land Management Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) in suspending the water supply.

“Must cooperate with its local administrations and the specialist units, especially the Ministry of Land Management Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC), in suspending the water supply to construction sites, hotels, guest houses, residential buildings, commercial buildings, factories, enterprises, handicrafts, buildings for sale or rent, and other constructions that are classified as illegal or constructed contradictory to the permits as identified by the authorities, except private homes,” the letter said.

This water supply suspension can only be removed with verified documents issued by the authorities who oversee the construction site.
