Japan Provides Over $300,000 in Grants to Enhance Water Access and Education in Cambodia

Bilateral agreement funds a clean water supply system in Svay Rieng and a new primary school building in Stung Treng

The Government of Japan has committed more than $300,000 in grant assistance to Cambodia for two critical development projects focused on clean water infrastructure and education. The official signing ceremony for these grants took place at the Embassy of Japan on February 26, 2026, marking a continued partnership in improving local living standards.

According to a statement from the Japanese Embassy, the total funding of $307,720 is provided under the Kusanone Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Ueno Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, alongside the Director General of the Svay Rieng Provincial Waterworks and the Director of the Stung Treng Provincial Department of Education, Youth, and Sport.

The allocated funds will support the installation of a comprehensive clean water supply system in Svay Rieng province and the construction of a new building at the Samdech Krom Preah Primary School in Stung Treng province. These initiatives are designed to address immediate community needs by ensuring safe drinking water and providing a better learning environment for young students in rural areas. (read more)
