Japanese Investors Cultivate Exemplary Pepper Farm on 72 Hectares in Siem Reap’s Angkor Thom District

Japanese investors have embarked on a groundbreaking venture to establish a sprawling Japanese standard pepper farm in Trapeang Touk village, Chob Ta Trav commune, Angkor Thom district, Siem Reap province. The first phase of this visionary project will span an impressive 72 hectares, with plans to expand to a staggering 200 hectares in the near future.

During a site visit on June 10, 2023, accompanied by Mr. Som Samsak, Director of Siem Reap Provincial Finance Office, Mr. NABESHIMA KATSUHITO, President of Japanese Standard Vegetable Farm, expressed his enthusiasm for this state-of-the-art pepper farm. Harnessing cutting-edge technology, the farm promises exceptional productivity and serves as a role model for local agriculture.

With a current monthly yield of 500 tons and a strategic focus on international markets, this venture exemplifies the farm’s dedication to exporting its premium produce.

Mr. NABESHIMA KATSUHITO further emphasized that the farm will serve as an educational platform for aspiring pepper growers, enabling them to gain valuable insights and expertise from the farm’s success. By fostering knowledge transfer and sharing best practices, this initiative seeks to uplift the entire agricultural sector.

As the farm expands its operations to cover 72 hectares in its initial phase, Mr. NABESHIMA KATSUHITO envisions an increase in demand from potential buyers. With a target production of 500 tons per month, the farm’s growth potential aligns with the market’s appetite. Engaging local communities in this transformative agricultural endeavor is crucial for its long-term sustainability and collective success.

In addition to the farm, the Japanese investors are committed to establishing a small-scale processing facility that will produce high-quality standard chili sauce. This delectable Cambodian chili sauce, derived from peppers grown in Siem Reap, will cater not only to the local market but also to discerning consumers across ASEAN countries, further enhancing the region’s culinary landscape.

This collaboration between Japanese investors and Siem Reap’s agricultural sector not only ushers in a new era of innovative farming practices but also contributes to the economic growth and prosperity of the region. The establishment of the Japanese standard pepper farm marks a significant milestone in Siem Reap’s agricultural landscape, setting a precedent for sustainable and high-yield farming practices.
