JICA Launches Smart City Approach to Solve Urban Problems in Siem Reap

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has decided to implement a three-year project to implement a smart city approach to address urban issues in Siem Reap from May 2022 to May 2025, according to the meeting on reviewing and commenting on the pilot project of the Smart City project in Siem Reap province on 21 July 2022

This three-year implementation plan has three main objectives:

  1. A smart city approach has been developed and cooperation between relevant entities established.
  2. The process of implementing the smart city approach is developed through the pilot implementation of measures to solve urban problems.
  3. Establish a system for monitoring and evaluating and smart city approach

The smart city project in Siem Reap is being studied and implemented by two bodies, Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT), and JICA.

JICA will implement two projects, including the Smart Parking System, and the Smart Scooter pilot project.

Meanwhile, MLIT will implement two projects including the Smart City Data Collection and Analysis project, and CCTV System Introduction. (Read more)
