Kandal Province Achieves Significant Milestone in Land Registration

Kandal Province has made substantial progress in its land registration efforts, with authorities registering over 420,000 parcels, representing 57% of the total estimated 858,753 parcels across the region. This achievement was highlighted during a recent ceremony held on August 4, 2025, where property ownership certificates were distributed to residents in 17 villages of Ang Snoul.

Mr. Sok Kannarith, the Director of the Department of Land Management, Urbanization, Construction, and Land Survey for Kandal province, announced that the registration efforts have reached 65 communes out of 127. This includes 580 villages out of a total of 1,010, ensuring that a majority of communities are now accounted for in the systematic land registration process.

To date, a total of 420,364 property ownership certificates have been issued, with certificates distributed 241 times, benefiting 341,532 citizens. The recent distribution marks the 242nd occasion, providing an additional 7,969 certificates to residents across the 17 villages.

Deputy Governor Mr. Khon Serey Ratha emphasized the importance of systematic land registration, stating that it ensures legal ownership rights for citizens through property ownership certificates, often referred to as hard title deeds. This process not only reduces the potential for land disputes but also aims to eliminate them entirely, fostering a more secure environment for landowners.

As of June 23, 2025, the state land registration efforts across Cambodia have recorded 1,059 land parcels, covering an area of 1,763.43 hectares. Additionally, systematic land surveying nationwide has exceeded more than 13 million land parcels.

This progress reflects the government’s commitment to improving land ownership clarity and security for its citizens, paving the way for enhanced stability and development in Kandal Province and beyond.
