KOICA to Support New National Paediatric Hospital Building worth US$16 Million

The Republic of Korea will provide US$16 million in aid to the National Paediatric Hospital to construct new infrastructures, purchase medical equipment, and build capacity for hospital staff, which will be conducted from 2022 to 2027. These projects were agreed upon via a Record of Discussion of the Strengthening Capacity of the National Paediatric Hospital which was signed between KOICA and the Ministry​ of Health on 12 July 2022.

This is the second such KOICA project to provide a new hospital building, improve the hospital operation system, improve specialised capacity, and enhance the research capacity of the hospital.

The project plans to build five floors with a total gross area of 8,880 square metres containing 196 beds in total, including Reception OPD for nine departments; pharmacy, laboratory, imagery department, haematology, oncology, gastro-intestinally, malnutrition, and respiratory tract infection.

In addition, Korea will provide advanced equipment for diagnosis, treatment, and operation, and the staff will be advanced via the provision of an in-service training program and transferring advanced knowledge and sharing experience from Korean doctors, as well as research capacity.
