Laos to Build US$2bn Wind Power Project for Domestic Supply & Export

The Laos Government and relevant energy companies plan to spend over US$2 billion to establish a wind power project in Sepon district of Savannakhet province for domestic supply and exporting to Vietnam.

The Laos government and two private firms—Savan Vayu Renewable Company and LTM Lao Company —have recently signed an MoU to examine the possibility of wind power projects in the region, reported Vietnam Plus.

With the estimated construction cost of US$2.15 billion, the wind power factory will have a capacity of 1,200 megawatts upon its completion by the end of 2025.

The signing of the MoU is part of a cooperation plan with Vietnam in the energy sector which was put into place in 2016.
