Large-Scale Drainage Project on Phnom Penh’s NR 4 Surpasses Schedule by 11%

The construction of a major drainage system along NR 4 in Phnom Penh has achieved an 11% faster progress rate, reaching a completed length of 624 meters. The project, which is part of a broader effort to modernize the city’s sewer infrastructure, aims to improve flood prevention and sanitation across key districts. This update was provided by the Department of Public Works and Transport of Phnom Penh on 12 September 2024.

Designed to tackle flooding in Khan Kampol and Khan Por Sen Chey, the large-scale box drainage system will not only improve public health and sanitation but also enhance the overall aesthetics and livability of the city. This critical infrastructure investment focuses on upgrading the sewer systems and water release mechanisms, contributing to a more resilient Phnom Penh. (Read more)

Further progress was noted during a review meeting held on 7 August 2024, where officials confirmed that the construction was 3.92% ahead of the original schedule, underscoring the project’s efficiency and its timely contribution to Phnom Penh’s urban development goals.
