Major Road to Phnom Knang Phsar Achieves Key Milestone

The ambitious project to construct a vital road leading to Phnom Knang Phsar has successfully reached a significant milestone, as announced by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Environment, His Excellency Khwai Atthia. The project, which enhances access to the scenic Khrenang Phsar mountain, is progressing on schedule, with the road being filled with earth and compacted.

Despite the challenges posed by the rainy season, construction efforts for various infrastructures aimed at developing green leisure destinations at Phnom Knang Phsar are moving forward smoothly. His Excellency emphasized that the newly paved road, stretching over 7 kilometers from Wat Tang Phue to the foot of the Knang Phsar mountain, will significantly ease travel for both local residents and tourists alike.

The Ministry of Environment is collaborating with relevant institutions to ensure that the development adheres to strict environmental and technical standards. This initiative aims to uplift the quality of life for local communities while promoting sustainable tourism in the Knang Phsar area, which includes the Knang Sampov and Knang Phsar mountains.

On May 16, 2025, the construction site for the access road and supporting infrastructure was inaugurated under the leadership of His Excellency Eang Sophallet, Minister of Environment. Current developments include a 7.2 km long, 8 m wide red gravel road leading to the Knang Phsar area, which is well underway with land preparation for paving. Additionally, progress has been made on essential facilities: the mountain pass gate is 25% complete, clean bathrooms are at 20%, and the mountain tourism information center and first aid room have reached 5%.

The construction of the mountain climbing road and the hiking trail from the foot of Knang Phsar to its peak, along with designated parking areas, is also nearing completion. These projects reflect the proactive approach championed by PM Hun Manet in creating a promising future for the region.

As work continues, the Ministry of Environment remains committed to enhancing the area’s natural beauty while promoting responsible leisure activities for visitors, making Phnom Knang Phsar a sought-after destination for eco-tourism.
