Groundbreaking of 500-Hectare Green Textile Industrial Park in Kampong Speu to Create Up to 60k Jobs

A groundbreaking ceremony on 8 November 2024 marked the start of a 500-hectare green textile industrial park in Chheu Neang village, Taing Sya commune, Phnom Sruoch district, Kampong Speu province.

Attended by HE Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, HE Dr Cheam Chansophoan, Governor of Kampong Speu Province, and Mr. John Yu, Chairman of Golden Integrity International Investment Group, this ambitious project aims to establish Cambodia as a central production and supply hub for printing, dyeing, and electroplating industries in the ASEAN region.

HE Heng Sour highlighted the project’s vast potential to generate between 50,000 and 60,000 jobs, aligning with the Cambodian government’s dedication to advancing workforce skills and improving employment opportunities for Cambodians. This project is seen as a significant move to strengthen local livelihoods and support Cambodia’s economic growth.

In conjunction with the groundbreaking, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia in Kampong Speu and the Yu Jianqing Charity Organisation for Education, focusing on enhancing educational quality and staff development and providing local students with vital training and resources.

This partnership aims to empower the community through education, aligning with the project’s broader goal of generating sustainable benefits for Kampong Speu’s economy and its residents.
