Minister: Cambodia Real Estate Industry Should Digitalise

Minister of Posts and Telecommunications H.E. Tram Iv Tek has urged all business operators in Cambodia to digitalise their businesses in response to the fast-moving world, and real estate is one of the sectors in focus.

The Minister made the statement while speaking on the topic of leveraging on IoT, AI, big data, and cloud computing during the Digital Transformation Workshop which was organised by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPTC) on 22 May at Raffles Hotel Le Royal.

“Extrapolating from the rapid growth of IoT, artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing in the consumer world, we see where and how it will drive business and impact e-commerce, banking and finance services, manufacturing, real estate and government projects,” said H.E. Tram Iv Tek as reported in the Khmer Times.

“With the enormous growth of big data, especially from IoT devices, now is the time to start planning for and building skills and infrastructure in artificial intelligence and IoT to take advantage of new technologies in support of decision making in your business,” he continued.

The real estate sector in Cambodia has been experiencing a big boom. In 2017, 3,052 construction projects were approved with an estimated investment value of USD6 billion, according the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC).
