Minister Promises to Prevent Flooding on National Road No.4

On 20 July, 2018, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) H.E. Sun Chanthol has announced that his ministry will add more places along National Road No. 4 in the “increasing road height” plan in order to prevent the road from flash floods in the future.

During a visit to follow up on the flood situation along National Road No. 4, H.E. Sun Chanthol said that “we will increase the height of this section of the road so that water will not flow over the road in the future”.

Speaking about the National Road No. 4 renovation plan using a US$110 loan from World Bank, H.E. Sun Chanthol mentioned that the ministry will increase road height in twotwo more places in addition to the five planned places.

Moreover, National Road No. 4 will be expanded by four metres in width for a total of 11 metres in width. The current width of the road is only 7 metres.

The new section is located between Kilometres No. 115-116 along National Road 4 in Stung Samrong Village,Obak Rotes Commune, Kampong Seila District, Preah Sihanouk Province.

The renovation schedule of National Road No. 4 is set to commence in early 2019 (read more) , but in order to ensure traffic sustainability along National Road No.4 which has recently been damaged by the floods, the ministry will begin repairing and restoring the damage immediately after the water clears out.
