National Road 7 Expansion Project on Track for Early Completion

The ambitious project to expand and improve National Road 7, transforming it from a two-lane to a four-lane highway, is currently 43% complete and is expected to finish ahead of schedule. The 45.5-kilometre stretch of road runs from Vang Vong Moul Skun in Cheung Prey district to the base of the Kizuna Bridge in Kampong Cham city.

During an inspection of the project on 20 March, HE Lim Sidenin, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Head of Project Management, reported that if construction continues at its current pace, the project could be completed by 2026, a year ahead of the initial deadline set for July 2027.

The upgraded road will feature a 9 cm thick Asphalt Concrete surface, spanning 24.5 metres across with four lanes. In addition to the roadwork, the project includes the construction of eight new bridges totalling 156 metres in length and the repair of seven existing bridges spanning 116 metres. Other enhancements will include storm drains, sewage systems, and various traffic facilities to improve overall safety and efficiency.

This significant infrastructure project commenced in January 2023, following a concessional loan from the Chinese government amounting to millions.
