National Road No. 33 (Kampot-Chrak Lok) is nearly complete, with 98.89% of the project achieved as of early November 2024.

This progress was reported during an inspection led by HE Pal Chandara, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. On November 6, 2024, the technical team from China Bridge and Road Corporation (CRBC), along with representatives from Guangzhou Wang An Technical Consulting Co., Ltd., participated in the assessment.

This inspection evaluated the construction status and technical work, ensuring that the National Road No. 33 project meets the required standards for quality and long-term usability.

During the visit, the Secretary of State instructed the construction companies to focus on maintaining high-quality work and closely monitor the project, especially during the rainy season. He emphasized the importance of installing safety equipment and ensuring proper road signage. Additionally, he encouraged the team to adhere to technical specifications for road mapping to accurately place road markers, enhancing travel and transportation efficiency for users.

It’s worth noting that the rehabilitation project of National Road No. 33 spans approximately 52.57 km, connecting Kampot province (beginning at National Road No. 3 at km 148 + 100) to Lok (at the Cambodia-Vietnam border). This route traverses the districts of Teuk Chhou and Kampong Trach in Kampot province and passes through Kep City and the Damnak Chang Eur district of Kep province. The project is funded through a concessional loan from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, along with budget allocations from the Royal Government of Cambodia to address impacts and taxes.
