NR No. 48 from Sre Ambel to Koh Kong Construction Progresses Beyond 62%, Set for Dry Season Completion in 2025

The ambitious project to restore and upgrade the 148-kilometre stretch of NR No. 48 from Sre Ambel to Koh Kong has reached a completion milestone of 62.11%, with completion expected in the dry season of 2025. This update was confirmed by HE Phorn Rim, Spokesman of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, on 3 July 2024.

HE Phorn Rim detailed that the construction, extending from the intersection with NR No. 4 to Khemarak Phoumin City, Koh Kong province, has shown significant progress. He also appealed to the public for patience, acknowledging that certain sections, particularly the slope of Tapon at PK: 140 + 300 to PK: 140 + 700, are challenging and slippery during heavy rains.

He assured that the Minister of Public Works has consistently advised project managers to facilitate traffic flow and ensure quick road clearance after rains to maintain smooth travel for residents.

The project is currently focused on asphalt concrete (AC) ironing work, which is scheduled to be completed by the dry season in 2025. The construction of NR No. 48 began on 3 January 2022 and is funded with a budget of approximately US$78 million. (Read more)
