Over 400 Families Living Along Siem Reap River to be Relocated

A total of 431 families living on state land along the Siem Reap River from the Neak Bridge to the Angkor Bridge in Slor Kram commune, have been ordered to demolish their properties and relocate to new government-provided land plots.

Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province Ngan Phirun said during the site inspection yesterday that the new location is located in Run Ta Ek commune in Banteay Srei district, where each family will receive a 20 metre-by-30 metre land plot.

He added that the new area will be equipped with a proper water system and sewage system.

Mr Phirun explained the relocation of these 431 families is due to the fact that their properties are affecting the Siem Reap River improvement project and some of the 38-road development.

As of March, construction of the 38 roads in Siem Reap was approximately 30% complete, while final completion is still set for early 2022. (Read more)
