Koh Norea Aspires to New Heights with a Towering 555-Metre Landmark

In an audacious venture set to redefine Cambodia’s skyline, the Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC) unveils plans for a colossal building soaring over 500 metres in the Koh Norea development area. OCIC Deputy General Director, Touch Samnang, confirmed the project on 21 November, revealing that despite initial intentions, the pandemic had temporarily delayed its implementation.

Mr Samnang stated, “Regarding the building project, the company planned on Norea Island, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we postponed the project.”

Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Hun Manet, recently announced the forthcoming construction of one of the region’s tallest buildings in Koh Norea, reaching an impressive height of 555 metres. Expressing optimism, he emphasised the significance of this landmark not only as Cambodia’s tallest but as a towering marvel in the broader regional context.

In his statement, PM Hun Manet remarked, “As I know, Koh Norea is planning to build the tallest building with a 555-metre height. Hopefully, it will be here, not just a high building in Cambodia, but also a high building compared to the region.”

The proposed site for this architectural marvel is strategically positioned on the left-hand side of the Koh Norea Bridge, promising panoramic views and enhancing the urban landscape. OCIC, known for its visionary projects, is concurrently undertaking the development of the Koh Nora Parkway, destined to be the longest esplanade garden park in Central Phnom Penh. Stretched along the river, this ambitious park boasts a total length of 4,200 metres, with approximately one-third of the project already completed.
