Phnom Penh Crowned Asia’s Most Affordable Destination for New Year’s 2025

As the world celebrates the dawn of 2025, travellers are flocking to Phnom Penh, named the most affordable global travel destination for the New Year in Asia, according to a recent ranking by digital travel website Agoda. This exciting news, highlighted by Radio National of Cambodia and reported by Yahoo Finance and Travel and Tour World, positions the vibrant capital of Cambodia as the perfect place to welcome the new year without breaking the bank.

On New Year’s Eve, the average accommodation price in Phnom Penh is a wallet-friendly USD 67, making it a cheaper alternative to Hanoi, Vietnam, where prices hover around USD 79, and Jakarta, Indonesia, where they soar to $92. This affordability attracts travellers from around the globe looking for an unforgettable celebration.

Ms. Do Samphors, Deputy Director of Administration and Phnom Penh Municipal Administration spokesperson shared that the country is expected to welcome over 3.5 million visitors during this festive season. Specifically, Phnom Penh is poised to entertain more than 1.5 million tourists during its two-day Global New Year celebration, which promises a vibrant mix of cultural festivities and entertainment.

Travel enthusiasts will be pleased to know that data from Travel and Tour World indicates that during the New Year festivities in Cambodia, the country will see a remarkable blend of 3,444,065 national guests and 47,260 international visitors.
