Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Reaching Final Layer Pavement Stage

The Chinese company building the new Phnom-Penh-Sihanoukville expressway has confirmed that it will soon begin work on paving the wearing course, which is the final surface layer of pavement for the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, indicating that the kingdom’s first expressway will be complete very soon.

In September, work on the largest 225m bridge on the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Project crossing over the river at Kbal Chhay Waterfall also began. (Read more)

Construction of this 190km expressway was 64% complete by July 2021 and is set to be completed ahead of schedule by September 2022, with a free ride trial during the first week or month.

The expressway has a total length of 190 kilometres connecting Sangkat Samrong Krom, Khan Por Senchey in Phnom Penh to Sangkat 3 in Sihanoukville.

The project is expected to cost a total of US$2 billion and is being built by China Bridge and Road Corporation (CRBC) through the Cambodian PPSHV Expressway Co., Ltd.
