Power Plants, Livestock Farms & Factories Worth Over US$63m Approved for 5 Provinces

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has recently given permits to private firms to invest US$63.5 million in building a power plant, solar park, livestock farm, and several other factories in Kandal, Kampong Thom, Sihanoukville, Takeo and Kampong Speu.

According to a CDC announcement on Monday 23 August, those seven companies include:

1. Ethan Metal Manufacture Co., Ltd., which will invest US$3 million to establish a factory processing aluminium, iron, and copper in Pong Teuk village, Damnak Ampil commune, Ang Snoul district, Kandal province.

2. Soma Energy Co., Ltd., which will invest US$4.7 million to build a 5-megawatt solar power plant in Sambour village, Popok commune, Stong district, Kampong Thom province.

3. Schneitec Alternative Co., Ltd. investing US$8.5 million to build a 23-megawatt oil power plant in Village 3, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville.

4. Xin Chenhui (Cambodia) Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. which will invest US$9.1 million to establish a biochemical factory in Dambang Venh village, Sangke Satop commune, Oral district, Kampong Speu province.

5. Soma Farm (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. that will invest US$11.1 million to establish an animal farm (chickens, ducks, pigs etc) in Khnar village, Kraing Thnong commune, Bati district, Takeo province.

6. Cambodian Xing Can Shi Pin Co., Ltd. which will invest US$11.2 million to establish a fruit processing factory (mango, pineapple, gourd, jack fruit and cashew) in Taing Sreng village, Sangke Satop commune, Oral district, Kampong Speu province.

7. Cambodian A1 Steel Industry Co., Ltd. which will invest US$15.9 million to establish a metal processing factory in Sdok Lpou village, Ksem Ksan commune, Oudong district, Kampong Speu province.

These aforementioned investment projects will create over 700 jobs for Cambodians.

According to a CDC report, in the first half of 2021 the CDC has approved 87 new investments both new and expansion projects, equivalent to almost US$3 billion, which is an increase of about 10% compared to the same period last year.
