PP-SHV Expressway Company Reduces Fees by up to 25% on B & C Buses

The Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Investment Company offers a special discount to private companies with 30 or more daily buses to encourage more expressway usage.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Cambodia Bus Association and Cambodia PPSHV Expressway Co., Ltd., the cost of expressway services will be discounted, but for a particular type of users, as Dr Chhim Chamnan, President of the Cambodia Bus Association explained at the MOU signing ceremony on 2 March 2023.
“The cost of expressway services and repairs fee for 30 to 100 B and C bus types will receive a 25% discount, and from 101 buses onwards, will receive a 30% discount,” said Dr. Chamnan.

The discounts are conditional upon bus companies installing an electronic toll collection system (ETC) with a deposit of US$100 per vehicle. The fee for ETC cards will be free for companies with more than 20 vehicles. Payments will be made based on the actual distance travelled.

The expressway company added that as of today a total of 17,000 vehicles have been equipped with ETC systems to pass through the PP-SHV expressway.

In addition, HE Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transport, who presided over the signing ceremony, encouraged the use of electric buses on the expressway.

“If the process is possible, the ministry would discuss with the expressway company to further reduce costs,” stated the minister.

HE Sun Chantol expressed his appreciation for the partnership and said that the discount would benefit bus companies and their passengers.  This initial effort would encourage more bus companies to use the expressway and reduce traffic congestion on the national road.
