Progress at Calmette Hospital: Three New Buildings Near Completion

Calmette Hospital is making significant strides in the construction of three new buildings, which are now reported to be 70% complete. The central building, parking building, and cyclotron medical centre are on track to be finished within the next two months, according to a recent update from HE Chheang Ra, Minister of Health.

During an inspection of the site, Minister Ra indicated that as of 7 May 2025, the central centre building is 2% complete, while the parking building has progressed to 8%. In contrast, the cyclotron medical centre is 70% finished, reflecting a strong commitment to advancing healthcare infrastructure in Cambodia.

Minister Ra emphasised the importance of adhering to proper construction techniques to ensure the safety and well-being of Cambodian citizens, urging the construction team to maintain focus on quality and efficiency.

The central centre will stand at 25 storeys, measuring 64.80 metres in length and 49.50 metres in width, and will encompass a total area of 65,521 square metres. Meanwhile, the cyclotron medical centre, which will be just two stories high, spans 14.9 metres in length and 11.7 metres in width, providing a floor space of 605.23 square metres. This facility aims to enhance medical capabilities by producing radiopharmaceuticals for hospitals and medical centres across Phnom Penh and beyond.

Additionally, the new parking building will greatly improve access for patients and visitors. It will be 72 metres long, 29 metres wide, and 13 storeys high, offering 28,568 square metres of space for 465 motorcycles and 546 cars. It will also include a cafeteria, an electronics technical department, and a simulation centre for training purposes.

The official ground-breaking ceremony for these new structures took place on 16 September 2024, under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Manet. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance health services in Cambodia, ensuring that citizens have access to modern medical facilities and treatments. (Read more)
