Cambodia Allocates Over USD 62m for Three New Buildings at Calmette Hospital to Boost Healthcare Capacity

Cambodia has committed over USD 62 million to construct three new buildings at Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh, reinforcing the nation’s healthcare infrastructure. The groundbreaking ceremony for the project was presided over by PM Samdech Hun Manet on 16 September 2024.

The project, which includes a 25-storey main building, a parking facility, and the Cyclotron Medical Centre, is valued at a total of USD 62.42 million. The main building will span 64.80 metres in length and 49.50 metres in width and encompass a total area of 65,521 square metres. It will be a major addition to the hospital’s capacity for providing advanced medical services.

Additionally, the Cyclotron Medical Centre, measuring 14.9 metres in length and 11.7 metres in width, will cover 605.23 square metres over two floors. This facility is set to produce radiotherapy drugs, aiding in the modernization of disease diagnosis and treatment both in Phnom Penh and across the country.

The parking structure will cover an area of 28,568 square metres, rise to 13 stories, and accommodate 546 cars and 465 motorcycles. It will also feature a restaurant, advanced electronic technology systems, and a specialized training or Simulation Centre for healthcare professionals.

Funding for this large-scale development comes from the remaining donations of the Techo Aphiwat Building Project, launched by Samdech Techo and Samdech Kittipritthbandit in 2019, along with contributions from philanthropists who donated under the “Donate for Human Life” campaign, and Calmette Hospital’s savings.
