Provincial Administration Nationwide Speeding Up Construction of Cremation Sites for COVID-19 Fatalities

The provincial administrations of each province nationwide are building crematoriums within their own provinces to be ready in case COVID-19 fatalities occurs, as the number of cases associated with the February 20 community incident is surging.

To date, according to information gathered by Construction & Property Magazine, those provinces that have already started the construction include Svay Rieng, Kratie, Kampong Cham, and Battambang. More provinces are expected to follow.

Meanwhile, for Phnom Penh city, the location of the cremation site is in Aoral district of Kampong Speu province. The Phnom Penh municipality is currently clearing the land and building six high-standard cremators. (Read more)

The cremation centres are being built following the order of PM Samdech Hun Sen after Cambodia marked its first COVID-19 death on 11 March.
